Chartered Physiotherapists train for several years to become Members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists – MCSP. During their training they learn all about how the body moves and operates, gaining a thorough understanding of muscles, joints, tendons, nerves and ligaments, together with a knowledge of what can go wrong with any of these.
As part of our commitment to the CSP (our professional body) we also attend regular courses as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in order to keep up to date with new ideas and treatment techniques. Chartered Physiotherapists also work using Evidence Based Practices ie. techniques that have been proven to work, so that those we treat can be sure of effective and up to the minute treatments
Using a holistic approach your physiotherapist will look at the whole body to establish where the symptoms originate from and how they may impact on other areas of the body, treating these where appropriate. Physiotherapy can be beneficial to those recovering from injury or surgery and who need help with regaining the strength and/or mobility that they had before. It can also help to reduce pain experienced by many people (although you do not need to consult your GP before seeing a physio, you may need effective pain relief to assist the treatment)
